Ringing Bells made history by announcing the cheapest smartphone in India / World, the Freedom 251 for just Rs. 251 (or US $3.7). The company has also launched another 4G smartphone : Smart 101, in India just a while back for Rs. 2999 ( again cheapest 4G Smartphone ).
Freedom 251 sports a 4″ qHD (960×540 Pixels) display powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM coupled with 8GB Internal memory, which can be expanded up-to 32 via external memory. The Smartphones comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. There’s a 3.2MP rear and 0.3MP (VGA) front-facing camera.
Connectivity options include 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS along with FM Radio. Freedom 251 is powered by a 1450 mAh battery.
The design of the smartphone is still in question as the website and the ad in TOI show a vastly different smartphone. Even the specifications are a bit different, the TOI ad says that the smartphone is supposed to come with a 4-inch WVGA display instead of a 4-inch qHD display. But we will know more at the launch event tonight.
Though there is a dispute that it’s re-branded Adcom smartphone. Moreover infringement of Apple copy rights are also reported. But, as of now what matters most is the price and companies commitment to deliver the Smartphone.
