Gionee Elife E8 launched in India for Rs. 34,999 – 6″ QHD display, 24MP camera, Fingerprint sensor & 3520mAh battery

Gionee launched another Mobile in the E-life series which was unveiled back in China in June this year and one of the major milestones with this is Gionee will enter the Indian eCommerce.

Though, When I had personal discussions with Arvind Vohra, Arvind categorically denied to step in E-commerce as well as Modern Trade ( LFR ), but some how, I can witness, Gionee has been learning the Market Trend very fast. Though, Gionee does not enjoy a big pie in India Market Share but it has been fighting well with the other Top brands like Micromax, Lava and Karbonn.

Elife series has been the luxury class of phones and the E8 only proves it again. The E8 is equipped with a 6″ WQHD Super AMOLED Display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 ~ 490 ppi. Just to add little more spice, E8 is powered by Mediatek Helio X10 processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage.

As expected, Gionee entered in smartphone fight with 24 MP Rear camera and dual-tone LED flash that has some special software and equipped with special features like six-element lens with sapphire glass loaded with tons of features like OIS, lossless zoom at up to 3x, 4K recording and phase detection auto-focus for speeds up to 0.08 seconds.

Not to forget Selfie Camera, Its whooping 8 MP. The phone is 9.6mm in thickness and weighs a hefty 210 gms.

But, Whats’ the biggest mistake made by Gionee – E Life E8 priced @ Rs. 34,999.

  • Gionee need to learn the pricing structure in Indian Market. I think while pricing this Smartphone, Gionee forgot about Oneplus 2, Meizu MX5 and immediately took a big leap to fight with Samsung and Apple.
  • Another key issue in Gionee Mobiles is –  The Gionee Elife E7 which they calling as their flagship phone is still stuck at Kitkat OS. Gionee does not seem to be in Top list of Android.
  • Even I could not see Corning Gorilla Glass in a Flagship Model.
  • The problem will be File Transfer ( may be just use BT , NFC ) No hotspot
