How to manage icloud backup on iPhone

icloud

We all know, iCloud gives only 5GB of storage, and after that starts the real pain of buying the storage. Very often, we miss small details and land up in trouble of shortage of space.

Let’s see, how much iCloud storage can cost you. Please remember storage plans are available in two options, Monthly and yearly.

  • 50GB – $ 0.99 / Rs 65
  • 200GB – $ 2.99 / Rs 190
  • 1TB – $ 9.99 / Rs 650

Here, the key question is what all to store in 5GB and what not !!

  • Contacts
  • Calendar
  • Key Chain
  • Reminders
  • Apps Data
  • Game Central
  • Find my iPhone

Avoid storing Photos, Videos, and office Files on iColud.

Another key question comes is ” Family Sharing “. Yes, you need it, if it’s activated. But for photos and videos, always use 3rd party app, specially Google photos, which virtually provides you unlimited storage plan.

Even for calendar, contacts and Reminder, I always prefer to use Gmail. The moment you are connected to wi-fi, immediately all your Data will be on Sync with Google. This is one of the best way to optimize usage of 5GB iCloud Data.

Let’s go to another issue : How to add google account on iPhone

> settings > Mail , contacts, Calendars > Add account > Follow instructions on screen

Once, all this is set, you can have the option of Data Backup – Fetch / Push. I have opted for fetch on hourly basis.

Now, Let’s do the settings of iCloud : Settings > iCloud > disable / enable apps and data you want to sync. Tab on storage and manage the complete Data, not only on iClod, but also across all the devices.

Don’t forget, you should not duplicate the data backup on both the places, as it will consume space, and some times, it may create a conflict and it may stop back up, as both the services will try at same time to sync.

For Google account backup : Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendars > This time tap on Google account > Select the Data you want to sync

How to secure Google Account with Two step verification – This basically involves password + OTP ( Mobile No. )

Simply go to Google Two step verification and follow the steps. It’s as simple as …1>>>>>>>2>>>>>>>3
