Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra reveals impressive Xiaomi phone sales number.
Chinese Xiaomi has sold 110 million Redmi phones globally since our first Redmi phone launched in Aug 2013. Hugo Barra, Global VP of Xiaomi, breaks this impressive number down to 1.21 units sold per second in 3 years.
Barra also reveals that Xiaomi smartphone users are majority 22-29 year old, young and very active mobile Internet/app users—video, social media, tools, games, books, and news.
Xiaomi has still a lot of room to grow as the core market is still China. The US market is still basically untapped.
The new MIUI 8 has been released as beta today. Xiaomi smartphone users running the latest MIUI China developer ROM can upgrade to the MIUI 8 beta now. The stable release of the Xiaomi Android UI is set for August 16.
Last week, Xiaomi launched the Mi Max and the Air Purifier 2 in Hong Kong. The company recently also unveiled its first drone.
