Well it’s about that time of the year again. A BUNCH of android devices have surfaced and made headlines so far in 2016, but now it’s Apple’s turn to take the mic. Soon to be arriving is the much anticipated iPhone 7. Apple has had very few releases this year, but that doesn’t mean that it’s been a quiet year for the company. The mobile world’s been abuzz with a steady stream of rumors and leaks surrounding the next iPhone for months. Now, it seems that the rumors will soon be coming to rest, as Apple has officially announced that it’s having an invite only event going down on September 7th. A simple, yet enticing statement reading “See you on the 7th” sits prominently at the bottom of the invite. Though the iPhone 7 isn’t directly mentioned, we can’t help but to think that this is a clever play on words. That couldn’t have been more of a direct tease if they put a winky face next to it.

The event will take place at Bill Graham Civic Center in San Francisco, California at 10:00 a.m. As noted on the teaser, it’s exclusive to those who have been invited, so you can be certain that your favorite tech journalists will be covering the event. This comes at an awkward time as many people are on their way to Berlin for IFA. But an Apple launch event will definitely garner enough attention, so those at Apple shouldn’t be worried about IFA stealing its fire. With such compelling offerings from the likes of Samsung, LG, and HTC, and upcoming device such as the LG V20 and the new Nexus devices, Apple has a TON of competition; and that’s not even counting the powerful budget offerings from the likes of ZTE, OnePlus and Alcatel. When the iPhone 7 launches, it’ll be a no holds barred battle to see who created the best device of 2016, and this is one battle where we don’t mind being on the front lines.
