LG Electronics has appointed Kim Ki-Wan as the new Managing Director of its India operations effective August 1. Mr. Kim is currently the Executive Vice-President of LG’s Home Entertainment Overseas Sales & Marketing Group, the company said on Monday.
Kim Kiwan, has been with LG for over 30 years, has held various positions. He will replace Soon Kwon who will take over as the global head of LG’s Information Display business. Kwon, who held the position of MD of the India operations for the past five years, will relocate to LG’s Korea headquarters.
“LG India has strengthened its market leadership in consumer durables under Mr. Kwon’s tenure and continued to register double digit growth in core consumer durable business in 1st half of 2015 as in 2014 as well,” read a company statement.
Kwon said, ‘LG India has today grown to be among the top five markets globally for LG Electronics, and maintains its leadership position in consumer durables. I am sure under his (Kim’s) leadership, LG India will ensure stronger growth for the company.”
Kim Kiwan, know as Million Dollar Man in LG Electronics, has spearheaded LG MEA Region as President, Under his Leadership, LG MEA took a new turn and did a complete expansion in countries like UAE, KSA, Kenya, South Africa and West Africa specially Nigeria. Under his leadership, LG Mobiles took a new Turn in MEA Market and reached almost 10 % Market Share in South Africa and UAE Market. Having started lot of CSR activities across Africa, Mr. Kim was a very popular figure in MEA.
Hope, Mr. Kim can revive LG India image and retain it’s leadership in Market.
Though Mr. Kim Kiwan will be in India from tonight, but he will take full control from 1st August
