When it comes to Moto Smartphones, I always thing of Moto Razor, One of my stylish Phone. Even Today Moto dazzles me with build quality and speed

What is Moto G 3rd Generation :

  • 5″, 720 p HD (1280 x 720), Corning Gorilla Glass 3 ~ 294 ppi
  • Android v5.1.1 (Lollipop) OS
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) Processor with 1.4 GHz Quad Core CPU, Adreno 306 with 400 MHz GPU
  • 8 GB  with 1 GB RAM &  16 GB with 2 GB RAM, external Memory upto 32 GB microSD card
  • 13 MP  f/ 2.0 CCT dual-LED flash  and selfie 5 MP f/2.2

  • 2470 mAh Long Lasting Battery ( Non – removable )
  • 155 g
  • Price 8 GB – 11,999 / 16 GB – 12,999 @ Flipkart

By launching Moto g at 12,999 , Motorola has created a new trend in the segment below 13 k which caters to almost 50 % of the Indian Smartphone Market. This segment was previously majorly catered by Yu Yureka Plus, Lenovo K3 Note, Xiaomi Mi 4i, Asus Zenfone 2 and Meizu Note 2, all mainly below 10k. Though Moto g 3rd generation is available in two options, My personal choice is always 16 GB with 2 GB RAM.

Retail Box Contents :

  • Moto G3 phone
  • Dual USB Wall charger (1150 mAh)
  • Micro USB cable
  • Hands free earphone
  • User guide
  • Warranty card

Design

Though the Moto G 3rd gen is slightly heavy in looks, but very sturdy design. What I like most is the back cover and the finish. Though the Design is almost same like Moto G, but  There is slight change in back design – The distinctive and unique design feature of back with a metal strip little embossed with Moto Logo.

This silver metal strip with a smooth metallic finish houses the camera module, dual-tone LED flash and Motorola logo, overall gives the feeling of ” Wow X factor.” Users also have the option to buy Motorola back shells and flip case covers in various colors separately.

Beneath the cover you’ll find the Micro SIM card slots and microSD card slot on the top corners.

Motorola managed a peculiar design, A taper design, slightly thicker in center and going slimmer in graduation till top and bottom. With rounded corners and a well textured back is typically made to hold the phone firmly in Palms. If you notice, Flat Design creates a gap in Palms, while Moto gets glued to palm.

Moto craftsmanship is worth appreciable, in terms of finish and the way buttons are designed ( power button is groovy ).

The power key and volume rocker is placed on the right side making one hand operation much easier. The best part is placement of Camera in Middle of Smartphone eliminating the risk of fingers coming in way of camera ( I am facing this problem a lot in cameras placed on corner. )

Last but not the least Design feature is, IPX7 certification which means water resistance  up to 1 meter of fresh water for up to 30 mins. I have even tried splashes and Moto managed to survive with that. For this Moto is secured with two rubber seals embedded inside back cover on top.

Display

Moto G 3rd gen is equipped with an impressive 5″ HD Display ( 1280 * 720 ) ~ 294 ppi. The most impressive part is the Display in Sun light and wide viewing angles. Though you may miss out slight details in dark areas, but overall viewing experience with Moto is pleasing.

The color test showed a result of 85.4% of the sRGB colour gamut in case of Moto. Moto has also managed to improve brightness from 390 nits from 450 nits as compared to Moto g 2014 Model.

Menu buttons are on the main screen, but while viewing Videos / Pictures / Games, Whole screen is part of Display. The phones got around 11 GB of user space.

Hardware

Moto G is supported with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) Processor with 1.4 GHz Quad Core CPU, Adreno 306 with 400 MHz GPU and coupled with Two variants of RAM 1 GB ( 8 GB ROM ) and 2 GB ( 16 GB ROM ).

This reminds me of Samsung Galaxy J5 which is powered with same processor but clocked at 1.2 GHz. Though this is not a perfectly Gaming Phone, but it does irritate when you play games or do multi-tasking. Does not give a feelings of lag or hanging around.

Moto g walks with you perfectly like a GF, does not nag like wives ( just a joke, girls please do not take it seriously :) )

Phone scored 24731, 24730 and 24635 on Antutu Benchmark.

Software

Another advantage of Moto Devices is the Android Experience and quick updates of Android Versions. The stock Android experience is a prominent and added benefit of owning a Motorola phone as you get the latest software OTA updates soon after the official release.

Another point is Moto personalized Apps like Moto Alert, Migrate, Actions, Hello Moto Assistance and Display.

Moto g 3rd gen comes loaded with Google’s launcher, stock dialer and app drawer, familiar notification and quick settings shade and Google settings which include Data Management, Google fit, Security and Search & Now.

Camera

Moto G 3rd gen is equipped with 13 MP Rear camera with f2.0 and Selfie Camera of 5 MP with f2.2

This point is impressive at times and some times irritating ( like most of the low end phones do ). Camera can be controlled by gesture control ( twisting the palm twice and double twist can also switch between front and rear cameras.)

In Gesture control camera starts instantly, Moto has made life easier with gesture control. Now no need to struggle in Menu options for starting the camera and switching between Rear and Selfie Camera.

Now the part which you will love is, Gesture control works in sleep mode / screen off mode also.

Battery

In Low end phones, definitely you can not expect Quick Charge. But, would have been much better if Moto can think of providing Quick Charge. Though Full Battery  charge time is hardly 3 hours and the impressive part is Long Life of battery. I been using this phone for over 3 weeks now, and battery impressed me a lot.

Last time the battery went for almost 7 days with minor usage of camera, wi-fi, game and 80 % on standby mode. Even after 6 days, I was left with 10 % of battery back up.

Final Words

I will have to rate this Phone 4.5 out of 5. ( Rating was based on usage, speed and comparison with other Models ). If your budget allows you almost 13 k, Than do not look for other Models of same specs below 10k.

  • Camera is far better than most of the flagship Models in the range of 20 ~ 25 k
  • Display is awesome
  • the biggest advantage which you get is in Terms of Battery life
  • In Terms of speed, Found it much better than Smartphones in Same Range ( Except few games )
  • Google Pure Android and speedy upgrades

Atleast for 3 k, you get a much better quality and Branding. Worth it !!! Right

Please do share your experience with Moto G 3rd generation.
