Motorola India may target 5 mn handsets in 2015
Motorola has revived back since Google take over. Since start, Motorola has partnered with Flipkart for selling Mobiles online and sold over 3 mn handsets in India. Motorola is already in top 5 vendors in India with Samsung, Micromaxx, Karbonn and Lava in lead.
In 2015, Motorola need to re-work on strategy seeing the competition from Xiaomi and Yu.
Lenovo bet on Motorola turned to be the biggest win for company. Lenovo has not been able to build image in Mobiles. Tasting success in Online, Now Motorola is planning to open few Experience centers in different parts of India. To start with, Company plan to open around 10 such centers and double the service support.
Company plans to start Mobile service vans in Capital Region. Though, Mobile service is not a new concept. This concept is in existence for a long time specially for Remote Areas.
Till now , most of companies launch Mobiles first in western part of world and India is taken as secondary market, Bot, Motorola may take India as launch pad. India being one of the fastest and high potential Market in smartphone. Even though , SP and FP ( Feature phone ) share is 30 % and 70 % respectively which is expected to be 40 % & 60 % in 2015.
