Nexus 6P got same Display resolution like Nexus 6 but Nexus 6P screen size reduced

Nexus evolution

Nexus 6 measures 159.26 x 82.98 x 10.06 mm, and weighs 184 grams.

Nexus 6P measures 159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm, and weighs 178 grams, slightly lighter than its predecessor.

Nexus 6 has metal edges with plastic back. However, the new Nexus 6P is the first handset in the Nexus line-up to boast an all-metal body, which gives a premium look to the smartphone.

But, there is a big design flaw in Nexus 6P, a notable bump at the upper back of the handset, which was not present in the Nexus 6. Many users may find the bump not so attractive.

Nexus 6 was released in October 2014 and sports 5.96″ Display with 1440 * 2560 Pixels ~ 493 ppi, while Nexus 6P sports 5.7″ with same pixels which amounts to ~ 518 ppi.

The only good point in Nexus 6P is protection by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, but the users who are habitual of using bigger screen may not opt for smaller screen of Nexus 6P.

This is a slightly tricky part and good game played by Nexus Team. Nexus 6 is powered by 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 805 processor while Nexus 6P is upgraded to Hexa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor but on 2.0 GHz.

Both the devices got 3 GB RAM.

But for sure, Nexus 6P is way faster than Nexus 6.

This is the winning point for Nexus 6P. Nexus 6 is available in Two memory variants 32 and 64 GB while Nexus 6P is available in three variants 32 / 64 / 128 GB.

External memory support is missing both the Models. Only advantage for upgrading is 128 GB.

The Nexus 6 is equipped with a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The Nexus 6 also had optical-image stabilization (OIS) that reduces blurriness in images.

The primary camera of the Nexus 6P has a smaller 12.3MP sensor. The camera also lacks OIS. However, the selfie camera on-board the Nexus 6P has been bumped to 8MP.

Nexus 6P is surely great for Selfies and what Nexus claim is ” Abesnce os OIS is compensated by more 1.55μm pixels light flow.”

Android Operating System

The Nexus 6P will come running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The Nexus 6 runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and is expected to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update soon.

This is another big improvement point for Nexus 6P.

Nexus 6P is powered by 3450 mAh battery which is having fast charge of 10 minutes with usage of 7 hours.

Nexus 6 is powered by 3220 mAh battery with fast charge of 15 minutes with usage time of 6 hours.

Initial Verdict

For me Nexus 6P may not be worth upgrading, but for New Technology users it may be worth a deal.
