Following this statement, Lei Chin, CEO One plus also announced refund for ” C” Type Cable
Recently it has come to our attention that two of our products, the OnePlus Type-C cable and the OnePlus USB Type-C adapter, are using a resistor that may not be fully compatible with some third-party devices.
If you’ve purchased the OnePlus USB Type-C cable or adapter on the OnePlus website as standalone products to use with devices other than the OnePlus 2, we are going to offer an opportunity to apply for a refund. Please note that cables that were included in the box with your OnePlus 2 are not eligible for a refund, since they are safe to use with the OnePlus 2.
Though Oneplus 2 charger is suitable for the Smartphone , but it does not meet the specifications laid by the Google Team. The key difference is , Oneplus 2 Cable uses 10kΩ instead of 56kΩ resistor, which seems to be a common problem across all the cables.
How it impacts the device, As a standard, Devices are not able to handle such a current flow, which may in-turn damage the chipseta nd mother board.
To understand, how the cable current and resitance works, Oneplus Team issued a chart which is given below :
This is a warning for those who specially Charge Google Chrome book or Nexus Devices with this type of cable.
