Oneplus X is based on Design and Material quality, Not so much specifications Oriented Smartphone. If you are looking for Design with features, Surely the Smartphone is for you.

            Specs of Oneplus X

            • Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 Snapdragon 801
            • 5″ 1080 * 1920 AMOLED Display, ~ 441 ppi
            • 71.3 % screen to body ratio
            • 3GB RAM + 16GB ROM up-gradable to 128GB via microSD
            • 13 MP PDAF + 8 MP Selfie
            • Non-removable Li-Po 2525 mAh battery
            • Design
              Onyx Version @ Rs. 16,999
              Ceramic Version @ Rs 21,999 ( Limited Edition )

            Design and Material

In terms of design, OnePlus X features a metal frame on the sides and Black glass Onyx at the back as a mass product. For limited Edition, Back panel is replaced with a Zirconia Ceramic which will be produced in limited quantity of 10000 Units.1+x-finger mark

Though Oneplus managed to keep the price within limits and pushed the boundaries hard to provide user with a  ” Cheap ” Luxury Phone.

When we see the bottom, I felt it’s copy of iphone 5, and also on thickness front which is 6.9 mm. If you are really interested in Oneplus X, In my opinion better go for Onyx Version, as in first looks it’s much more attractive than Ceramic Version.

On connectivity front, OnePlus X features a hybrid tray that lets you pick between using two nano SIMs or one SIM and a microSD card.

One question is always striking my mind, When Oneplus X got deisgner back panel, why you need back covers ?? The main purpose is to show off the Back panel, not to hide it or replace it ? Is not it a back panel which can be used in day-to-day use ??

The key problem which Oneplus X forgot to notice : Finger Print and Dust on Front and Back panels. If you promote a Smartphone with Special back panel, you have to have the Dust and finger proof feature.

This is the part which I have to think whether it’s worth a Mobile Costing 17k and 22 k. Oneplus X features a 1080 pixels 5 inches OLED display, with a pixel density of ~ 441 ppi.

No two doubts, Color Reproduction and Sharpness is good, but no option to tone down the colours to neutral-looking rRGB like levels for pleasant looks. But it’s OK, I think most of the time a normal user won’t use this feature. We can still try to compare the Display with either Moto G or Moto X even.

Hardware & Battery – Model No. Oneplus E1003

Oneplus is equipped with  32-bit Quad-core Snapdragon 801 CPU, 3GB RAM, 16GB ROM (expandable up to 128 GB via MicroSD card). This is one of the biggest weakness which I always point out. Any phone above 12k, should have minimum 32 GB of in-built memory. I am never ever in favor of 16 GB Smartphone.

            From my side, 16 GB @ Rs. 17 k or 22 K is a ” BIG NO “.

More over, The phone does not support NFC and Quick Charge. NFC may not be a deal cracker, but Quick Charge is must when you give a battery of 2525 mAh.

Though, it’s too early to say about battery back up, but based on my experience with Oneplus 2 , 3000 mAh battery, I don’t have big hopes from Oneplus X battery even.

I was expecting Oneplus X to be on new versions of Snapdragon like 617, but against all odds, Oneplus decided to use higher version 801. The main point to be considered is, 801 is based on 32 bit architecture, NOT 64 BIT.

The only good point in 801 is the GPU – Adreno 330, which in my opinion is faster than Adreno 405.

We picked up couple of test results from Geekbench and the result is given below :

            • 919 / 2504
            • 899 / 2348
            • 890 / 2436
            • 902 / 2265

Oneplus X is powered by Android Lollipop coupled with OxygenOS out of the Box. OxygenOS interface is more or less like Google UI in vanilla Android phones. Oneplus X skipped Android M, Right now it’s still Android 5.1 Lollipop, using a horizontally scrolling app menu rather than a vertical one.

What is appreciable here is the skin.

The main benefit of Oxygenos UI is that it offers lot of customization, all hidden in Settings menus so that they don’t interfere with how the phone feels day-to-day for those not interested in such tweaks

Oneplus X Rear camera is 13 MP with Samsung ISOCELL and 3M2 Sensor. What’s the benefit – compensates higher IOS sensitivity managing the noise to minimum.

Though This camera fell short of Nexus new series, but comparing the price level, It works well. Definitely you can not expect good pictures in slight dark conditions with f/2.2, The camera is not as fast as Oneplus 2 and also because of OxygenOS, camera got lag issues.

The only issue is the Camera UI, which is very slow to load and also the orientation is not that fast. More over managing camera UI in oneplus is always a big time hassle.

Based on the above facts, my answer to Oneplus X is no in terms of Technical specs, I will suggest any one to for Oneplus One instead, but still if you want a different phone, than go for Oneplus X with Black Glass Onyx version.

This time again Oneplus X will be on invite system, but What i felt, This time Invites were way too fast. I registered on day 1 and got the invite on day 2.

            Final Verdict

Oneplus X is purely a designer Phone, if you are looking for good specs, its a mix, like 3GB RAM + 16GB ROM, you can get these specs in Coolpad Note3 which is available @ Rs 8,999.

Yes the phone looks premium. From my side at this price range you can opt for any phone with higher specs, as I do not material quality that much and more the material used by Oneplus X is neither dust proof nor finger proof.

My preference is always 1+1, Not even 1+2.

Within few days, you will start feeling irritated , why i took this phone !!!
