Smartphone Market Share  – Operating System

A broad outlook of Share by Operating System :

Smartphone Market Share -Mobile Operating System

Smartphone Market Share -Mobile Operating System

Android : 81.5  % ( 2014 )  vs  78.7 % ( 2013 )

IOS : 15 % ( 2014 )  vs  15.3 % ( 2013 )

Windows : 2.7 % ( 2014 )  vs  3.3 % ( 2013 )

Blackberry : 0.4 % ( 2014 )  vs  1.9% ( 2013 )

Others : 0.4 % ( 2014 )  vs  0.8 % ( 2013 )

Does it mean, Smartphone future lies only in two operating systems, i.e Android and IOS. This is the real chance for Windows Mobile to bring out some thing different to appeal consumer and steal some Market share.

Google has already announced Office Productivity Tools to counter Apple and Microsoft. Chances are real good for Google to capture B2B Market and reach 85 + Market Share.

  • Android is making it to the top by capturing the highest market share worldwide which is much higher then any other platform. But when it comes to revenue generation there has been no competition to iOS. Apple has been consecutively proving itself to be the best Smartphone. But the way its penetrating it feels like slowly its loosing its market to Google’s Android. The main reason behind the android eating up the whole market is the lowest range at which the smartphones are available to the users. Android phone got such an Robust functionality that they are always preferred in a large extent. But when we talk about the Apple sets they are of high range which can be afforded by the higher income users. Again, With the latest release of Google, Google Pixel has started giving a indefinite competition to iPhone 7. So, its yet to see where this fight heads.
