Telecom Brands which failed in India miserably
Though the List of Brands which failed to impress India Customers is long, but I am including only Multi National Brands which are famous for other products.
I could think of majorly three Brands :
1. LG : Technically LG may be one of the strong brands when it comes to Innovation, but in terms of Customer reliability and preference, LG has always failed in the markets of India and MEA Region.
LG was the first company to invent Touch UI with Chocolate and a full touch Mobile with Prada. But, in terms of products, LG never gained recognition after Chocolate. The next recognition phase was G series and Nexus.
LG India picked up market share because of Nexus and reached 200 Cr. / month, but after Nexus, LG failed miserably again and turnover came down to merely 30~40 Cr. / month.
2. Panasonic : Panasonic used to be a good name in Mobiles earlier, but company withdrew from International Market in 2005 and came back in 2012.
I remember using Panasonic GD 92 or 95 in early 2000. After that never heard of Panasonic so much. Even Today except Japan, Panasonic failed to impress Customers in other parts of World.
3. Lenovo : Though I have included Lenovo name now, but since it started selling Mobiles, Lenovo always failed to impress customers and make its place.
Later Lenovo, realized the mistake and started bringing models in low range like A 6000 / 7000 and K3 Note. Lenovo got recognition from A 6000 and majorly from K3 Note.
Lenovo understood the mistake in India way too early than LG and Panasonic and made it’s place in Online Market. Corrected the price segment and started attacking the customer segment in the range of 10 k and below.
Story not yet finished…to continue..more will be about Company culture and the Team. If you are aware of any such International Brand which failed miserably ( except Nokia, Blackberry ) , please share
