GSMA revealed in one of the reports ” Indian Mobile Economy is on the fastest track and by 2020 may contribute around 400 Billion to India’s GDP, and will generate over 4 million job opportunities.” Moreover, India is the 2nd largest Economy in the world which is the highest user of Social Media like FB and LinkedIn.
At present , India got over 960 mn Mobile connections around 25 % of overall Asia Region. Overall, penetration rate as of September 2014 is approx 76 %. This could be becoz of factors like low cost handsets, sim cards and free incoming calls. One factor which is working as catalyst is availability of Internet , financial transactions and shopping through Mobile. Actual fact is, still majority of operators are struggling hard to improve ARPU , as there is not much scope of revenue from Voice. Costing may be slightly high due to high cost of Spectrum and high network investment in rural areas and above all, cut throat competition is forcing every one to drop prices and operate at thin margins. Moreover, Indian customers still hesitate a little to buy Mobiles on postpaid plans. The culture which is widely accepted in US or South Africa.
