Whatsapp Security Update : messages are encrypted now

Encrypted messages are not a new scenario in social media platform. iMessages got this feature, and Telegram also provides end-to-end encryption for all messages sent or received on Telegram. Telegram is on top in terms of security and encryption. Along with Message encryption, it also comes with the self destruction conversation feature, that doesn’t save any history of conversation.

Now, WhatsApp has also started end-to-end message encryption. Whatsapp has not send any notification or update to any user. Last update for WhatsApp was released on March 29 for Android Platform, and on April 1 for iOS. The message encryption feature was added today (April 5). You don’t need to do anything to encrypt messages. WhatsApp users have already started receiving notification regarding message encryption. You may suddenly see the following message during conversation.

So anything you send now will be secured by end-to-end encryption, and even WhatsApp can not access your conversation, like chat or call. I am sure, lot of persons are aware of ,Apple vs FBI fight , which has raised data security issue where Apple Denied FBI to make any unlocking tool for iPhone. FBI unlocked the device though, and no one knows how.

There are many users who switched from WhatsApp to Telegram just because of encryption and security. If you are one of them, it could be a good news for you, and time to switch back to Whatsapp.

Why it’s Different from others

Many messaging apps only encrypt messages between you and them, but WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption ensures only you and the person you’re communicating with can read what is sent, and nobody in between, not even WhatsApp. This is because your messages are secured with a lock, and only the recipient and you have the special key needed to unlock and read them. For added protection, every message you send has its own unique lock and key. All of this happens automatically: no need to turn on settings or set up special secret chats to secure your messages.
