2016 seems to be the year of  in-house developed Chipset for  Smartphone manufacturers. This new Era was started by Apple and Samsung, and now lot of manufacturers seem to follow this Trend.

Recently we had seen LG, and now its turn of Chinese manufacturers, like ZTE, Xiaomi and Lenovo. ZTE seems to lead the trend, by getting a big fund of $ 74 million from China’s National IC Industry Investment Fund, to accelerate the in-house Chip Development.

Chinese manufacturers have already crashed the pricing of Smartphones, now they plan to enter the arena with another round of cheap chipsets. Qualcomm and Mediatek may be the biggest sufferers.

Xiaomi is also working with Chip Designer Leadcore Technology to develop ARM based Soc Chipsets. There are also some more local players who are developing very fast, like, Allwinner, Rockchip and Spreadtrum.

On an average, Processor Market is around 5.8 Bn $ / Quarter ( as reported PRNewswire Data for Q1 2015 )
